Over 24% of planet earth's population is on the internet according to Internet World Stats. By far the most popular operating system in the world for worldwide computer use is Windows. Here is a graph indicting how popular it is with this report shown in October 2009:

Worldwide Operating Systems

The above is only a partial list of a massive list of operting systems in the world.

This gives you an idea how popular Windows is with over 92% of the world's computers using it. Now if one is an evil dude who wants to crash computers and wipe out hard drives and do other nasty stuff with viruses, trojans, worms, etc., and you go to a lot of trouble making your bomb to destroy the world's computers which operating system do you think this would be written for? Mabye Linux the third most popular operating system in the world used by mostly the governments of third world countries and about 12 million computer users who want a free operating system? Or would this evil dude write this horrible nasty terroristic computer threat for the most popular operating system, Windows? You fill in the blank. And have you heard the rumor that all the virus protection software companies are the ones who are writing all these nasty viruses and dumping them all over the internet through emails and web sites lurking all over the place? Have you ever heard of a virus threat infecting a Mac or Linux user? According to the BBC News Ubuntu, a Linux OS, has become by far the most popular one other than the Mac OS that is taking on Windows.

So which operating system is the safest to use?
